The gates and doors were barred

Then just before the sunrise

I heard something at the wall

The gate began to rattle
O portão começou a ranger
And a voice began to call
E uma voz começou a chamar.
I hurried to the window
Eu corri para a janela,
And looked down into the street
E olhei para a rua lá embaixo,
Expecting swords and torches
Esperando espadas e tochas
And the sound of soldiers’ feet
E o som dos pés dos soldados;

But there was no one there but Mary

So I went down to let her in

And John stood there beside me

As she told me where she’d been

And she said they’ve moved Him in the night

The stone’s been rolled away

And now His body isn’t there

So we both ran to the garden
Assim, nós dois corremos pro jardim;
Then John ran on ahead
E então João correu na frente,
And we found the stone and empty tomb
E encontramos a pedra, e a tumba vazia,
Just the way that Mary said
Bem do jeito que Maria tinha dito;
But the winding sheet they wrapped Him in
Mas o lençol em que O tinham enrolado
Was just an empty shell
Agora era só uma casca vazia,
And how or where they’d taken Him
E como ou pra onde eles O levaram
It was more than I could tell
Era muito mais do que eu sabia…

Oh something strange then happened there

John believed a miracle
João acreditou no milagre,
But I just turned to go

Back inside the house again

The guilt and anguish came

Just added to my shame

And when at last it came to choices
E afinal, quando chegou a hora das decisões,
I denied I knew His name
Eu neguei que conhecia Seu nome!
So even if He was alive
Então, mesmo que Ele estivesse vivo,
It could never be the same
Nunca mais poderia ser a mesma coisa.

Then suddenly the air was filled
Então, de repente, o ar se encheu
With a strange and sweet perfume
De um perfume estranho e doce.
Light that came from everywhere
A luz que vinha de toda parte
Drove shadows from the room
Expulsou as sombras do aposento,
Then Jesus stood before me
Então Jesus parou na minha frente
With His arms held open wide
Com Seus braços bem abertos!
And I fell down on my knees
E eu caí de joelhos,
And I just clung to Him and cried
E O agarrei, e chorei…

Oh, but then He raised me to my feet

And as I looked into His eyes

Love was shining out from Him
